Six dead in tricycle-truck collision in General Santos City

Six individuals together in a tricycle perished when they got hit by a six-wheeler Isuzu truck in a stretch the Makar-Siguel Highway in Purok Cabu in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City on Sunday afternoon, June 16, 2024.

The fatalities, the 12-month-old child Lathicia Jane Enan, the six-year-old Zowie Natalie Cañedo, Jeremy Michael Culanan, 11, Rosilene Bigtasin Pajaro, 28-anyos, Marivic Enan, 28, and the 32-year-old tricycle driver Jay Cañedo, all died on the spot from injuries caused by the accident.

A report released on Monday by the office of Brig. Percival Augustus Placer, director of the Police Regional Office-12, indicated that the victims were on their way home from a beach resort when they figured in the accident that left four of their companions injured.

Investigators from the General Santos City told reporters on Monday that Cañedo, then possibly drunk, lost control of his tricycle that, according to witnesses, veered to the other lane and collided head-on with the Isuzu Forward truck coming from the opposite direction of the highway.
